My name is Sally Hurst, nee McGann.
I was born in Solihull, a suburb of Birmingham, Warwickshire, UK on 27 May 1975.
For the past three years I have delved into the world of Geneology and researched my ancestry.
I
wish to share my discoveries with my family and friends, which will
include photos and external links. I hope this inspires others to
investigate their roots, its a wonderful way to feel connected to the
past.
Welcome to the history of the McGann family (Birmingham).
Very interesting, i was thinking of doing this, as we don't know anything of our family history, there are rumours of the american Fox films creator being related to us. Plus i also heard something to do with exporting of food to Aust and NZ, and it would be interesting to see if the McGann Brothers where actually related lol, Dr Who being a family member would be a good convo starter. ReplyDeletei found this in my folder i don't know if you have seen it. It's the list of Passengers from County Roscommon to New York via Liverpool on Ship CHANNING, 13 March,1848.
Thanks Jack, I will have a look at this. You may want to join ancestry.co.uk as I have the full McGann line going back to 1831. You can find my profile to view the tree.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad, did mention 20th Century Fox, but it sounds like a Grandad Les leg pulling story, but I am not 100% sure. There was a Mary Ann McGann that married a man caled Dominic Fox and had a couple of children. However, I did research 20th Century Fox and this studio company was established by a Hungarian man and the dates do not match. Have a look, that story in itself is really interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20th_Century_Fox
There are alot of McGanns.......
I am with the Gann Historical Society in the US, and we are looking into old world DNA matches. Some recent research has shown we may be associated with McGanns or McCannas. Have you done any DNA research?
